Step 1.
Foremost, select the better condition thrift cabinet, and decide from where you want to give the opening gate to your kitty, where she can easily move in and out. Once the side is decided measure and draw the lines with a pencil, after that take a driller and start digging holes at the corner as per the measurement.
Step 2.
Now it’s time to use the jigsaw tool, carefully cut out the opening. If it’s cut perfectly straight, then no need to worry, it’s ok! You can give the finishing touch later. After that, drill four even holes on the backside of the cabinet for ventilation.
Step 3.
If your cabinet is in good condition, then you can simply use the finish sander(sandpaper). You can give a quick sanding to the edges of the cabinet, which will help in reducing the sharpness and give a clean look. If the edges are rubbed finely with sandpaper, then it’s good for your kitty as there are fewer chances of her getting hurt.
Step 4.
Now, cut the trim pieces to fit the opening, using the liquid nails to glue down each trim piece at the side of the opening. Clamps can be used in the corners for the grip. If you notice any gaps in the corner, fill it with wooden putty.
Step 5.
To keep your kitty’s litter box, scooper, litter pack you need to add a shelf. Just need to drill the small holes and then place the good quality of ply in the center, with the help of a screw.
Step 6.
Now it’s time to give a final look to your kitty’s litter box cabinet. As per your living room, bedroom interior, you can decide which color you want to try for the cabinet. Once you are done with the paint, keep it aside to dry off. You can also give a different look by replacing the drawer pull.
Your kitty’s litter box cabinet is ready, now you can place all her toiletry items like litter pan, litter packet, scooper, tissues, inside the cabinet.
